Bremen, September 15, 2020. The Scotch whisky distillers of Douglas Laing & Co are bringing the Big Peat Christmas Edition 2020 to the German market again this year. A powerful limited special edition cask strength of the award-winning Islay Malt Scotch Whisky range.
The Glasgow-based family business released the first Christmas bottling of Big Peat on the market in 2010. Since then, the iconic Islay fisherman has grown spectacularly around the world, making a big name for itself with brand-exclusive bottlings and limited-edition bottlings, some of which have been aged for a very long time.
Now in its 10th annual Christmas bottling, Big Peat features a red Christmas hat, much like the first iconic design from 2010. Only that this year not the Christmas tree burns, but “Christmas Peat” dangles as a Christmas ball on the branch. Of course, also this year in winter barrel strength of 53.1%, without colorants and without cold filtration.
Fred Laing, chairman of the family business:
“My little boy Big Peat was brought into being – literally “born” – in 2009. It is the dream child of a unique marriage of 100% single malts from our favorite Islay distilleries. Meanwhile, “he” has many loyal fans of the phenol around the world. In the barrel-strong Christmas Limited Edition, we get to see its more robust and intense side again this year. 2020 with even more peat smoke, dried seaweed, coal dust and the sweetness so characteristic of Big Peat. Christmas without my smoky friend would be unthinkable for me”.
