Produced in the Black Forest, inspired by Berlin’s attitude to life.
Today, there is a distinct, multi-layered aperitif culture in many large cities. One pioneer of this development is undoubtedly BELSAZAR, a German vermouth that can easily hold its own against the competition from the south. Conceived in Berlin and made in Breisgau, BELSAZAR combines the typical German qualities of innovation and craftsmanship. It is based on selected vintner wines from the Markgräflerland and Kaiserstuhl regions in the Black Forest. BELSAZAR is given a special twist by refining it with fruit brandies from the Schladerer family. In combination with tonic water, for example, BELSAZAR unfolds its aroma in a wonderfully uncomplicated way: light, refreshing, with delicate bitter notes and restrained sweetness.
Of all five BELSAZAR variants, BELSAZAR Rosé stands out as a summer aperitif. This light, refreshing drink with its fruity, fresh notes of grapefruit and orange blossom, complemented by the tart sweetness of a tonic water, is simply perfect for starting the evening together.

The founders
A vision of excellence
Belsazar was created by entrepreneurs Maximilian Wagner and Sebastian Brack. Their passion for handcrafted spirits and their attention to detail led them to develop a vermouth that stands out from the crowd thanks to its quality and taste. The two founders recognized the potential of a modern vermouth that harmoniously combines tradition and innovation. With a great deal of dedication and expertise, they created a brand that redefines vermouth and delights both purists and connoisseurs who love to experiment.
Unique recipe
and regional quality
The production of Belsazar begins with the selection of high-quality wines from South Baden, particularly from the Kaiserstuhl and Markgräflerland regions. These wines form the basis for the different vermouth varieties. Up to 30 different herbs, spices, flowers and peels are used for the flavoring, with the wormwood herb playing a central role. These ingredients are macerated in large glass balloons to extract the desired aromas.
A dash of fruit brandy from the Schladerer distillery gives the vermouth additional depth. The sweetness is achieved by adding Black Forest grape must, which is refined with brandy to stop the fermentation and add a subtle sherry note.
Once all the ingredients have been blended, the vermouth matures for up to three months in neutral-tasting barrels to develop its complex aromas without picking up any unwanted woody notes.

Sustainability and craftsmanship
Belsazar not only stands for outstanding taste, but also for sustainable and artisanal production. The ingredients come from controlled cultivation and production is carried out with the utmost care and dedication in Germany. The result is an aperitif that meets the highest quality standards in every respect.

The new
summer drink
The days are getting longer, the sun is gathering strength and we are already drawn outside again, onto the terraces of our bars and cafés. Finally enjoying the evening with friends again, sunglasses on our noses and a glass of BELSAZAR Rosé & Tonic in our hands. In fact, the art of the aperitif has been cultivated in France, Italy and Spain since the late 18th century and has therefore had enough time to become an integral part of everyday bourgeois culture.
Perfectly combined with tonic water – for a bitter-sweet taste
