Taste the
Nordic Legend

The folklore

Nykur, a mythical creature of Faroese folklore, emerges from the depths of the Faroese lakes in the form of a shimmering gray horse. Its beauty tempts weary travelers to climb it or pet it. Once they do, they remain trapped and are dragged into a watery grave by Nykur. To break the spell, call out its name – NYKUR.

Enjoy the purity of Nykur Vodka, but be vigilant.
The spirit of Nykur lives in every bottle.
When its power takes over, shout NYKUR loudly.

The Magic is in the grains,
and the spell is the water

Two ingredients form the basis for the soft and round taste that you will find only in Nykur Vodka. Organically grown, sun-ripened wheat from northern Italy and the purest spring water that springs from the volcanic rock of Kirvi in the Faroe Islands. Something magical happens when these two ingredients are brought together – the essence of the inimitable Nykur Vodka. From the beginning, we set out to create a truly unique organic vodka that would be unlike any other vodka on the market in its smoothness and rounded taste. Therefore, there was no room for compromise when it came to finding the two most important ingredients: Water and wheat.

Smooth is not a flavor the water is smooth

VODKA usually consists of 40 percent alcohol and 60 percent water. For us, the only option was to use the best and softest water. Anything else would affect the taste and balance.
In our intensive search for the non-plus-ultra, we finally found nature’s purest water at Kirvi Mountain on the Faroe Islands. Water was discovered at this site when a tunnel was bored through the mountain in 1988. Since then, the Faroe Islands have the softest and purest water that nature has to offer.

Volcanic mountain water

The Faroe Islands are a group of 18 volcanic islands halfway between Norway and Iceland. We found nature’s purest water buried 1.5 km deep in the volcanic Kirvi Mountains between the villages of Lopra and Sumba. Since its discovery during tunnel drilling in the mountains in 1988, locals have loved the water. The water comes from natural sources and is gravity fed to the plant. It’s a simple, sustainable process that makes our water environmentally friendly.

12 layers of
55-million-year-old basalt

The geological structure of the volcanic mountain Kirvi, from which the water originates, consists of 12 layers of 55 million years old basalt. These volcanic rocks are rich in minerals and electrolytes. As the water is filtered through these 12 layers of basalt, minerals are naturally added, giving the water a soft mouthfeel and a hint of sweetness.

With a pH of 8.3, our water is naturally alkaline, which contributes to the smoothness of our vodka.
